Furiosa: The Perfect Prequel

Mad Max: Fury Road was fantastic! George Miller hit the mark and now attempts to replicate that success with Furiosa, a prequel focused on one of the main characters from Fury Road. In Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, we see what Furiosa’s (Anya Taylor-Joy) life was like leading up to the events of Fury Road. Brilliant!

A Young Furiosa

As a young Furiosa, she is kidnapped by a desert gang, led by Dementus, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth with a large prosthetic nose. From the very first moment, you’re sucked into the film, and it doesn’t let you go until the very end. The spectacle bursts from the screen, and two and a half hours have never flown by so quickly. This is how a prequel should be!

Badass Female

Especially noteworthy is Furiosa’s encounter with Praetorian Jack (Tom Burke)—it’s a real treat. On-screen, something genuine develops between the two characters, making it a shame that they only (so far) appear together in this film. But beyond all this, Furiosa is simply a female badass character, and we really needed that again. It pains me to read that the box office results for this movie are underwhelming because Furiosa absolutely doesn’t deserve that.

The Perfect Blockbuster

No, Furiosa is, for me, the film of the year. A perfect combination of suspense, spectacle, and a great story—the perfect blockbuster! And it’s a film you absolutely have to see and experience in the cinema. Hopefully, the box office results don’t discourage George Miller because this definitely leaves us wanting more!
